Update on the wreckage recovery operation Blackstairs Mountain
The AAIU, with assistance from members of the Irish Air Corps spent yesterday (26 May 2015) examining/gathering wreckage on the accident site and preparing same for lift by helicopter.
No on-site operations will take place today 27 May 2015
Tomorrow (28 May 2015) it is the intention of the AAIU, with the assistance of personnel and helicopter support from the Irish Air Corps, to commence lifting operations from the accident site to a local RV point. Operations will be subject to suitable prevailing weather conditions at the accident site. The wreckage will then be transported by road under escort to the AAIU wreckage examination facility in Gormanston Camp, Co Meath.
