Staffing

Current AAIU staff is made up of ten personnel including:

  • (1) Chief Inspector of Air Accidents (Pilot)
  • (3) Administrative and Support
  • (8) Inspectors of Air Accidents of which (4) are Engineers and (4) are Pilots.

Technical staff is made up of pilots and chartered engineers who have gained significant previous operational experience in either commercial civil aviation and/or military aviation and in some cases experience in air accident investigation.  On entry into the AAIU all technical staff receives formal training and continuity training in many different areas of accident investigation.

Administrative and Support staff are recruited internally from within the Civil Service.
