The AAIU conducts investigations under the provisions of Statutory Instrument S.I. No 460 of 2009 Air Navigation (Notification and Investigation of Accidents, Serious Incidents and Incidents) Regulations, which came into effect on 9th December 2009.

NOTE: S.I. No. 460 of 2009 replaces S.I. No. 205 of 1997 Air Navigation (Notification and Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Regulation 1997

However, occurrences which occurred prior to 9th of December 2009 will continue to be investigated under the provisions of S.I. No. 205 of 1997.  Accidents, Serious Incidents and Incidents which occurred from 9th December 2009 inclusive, will be investigated under the provisions of S.I. No. 460 of 2009.
