SYNOPSIS
The Pilot unpacked the paraglider canopy on the north side of Sugarloaf Hill, Co. Tipperary. He allowed the wind to inflate the canopy and a take-off was performed. The Pilot flew briefly towards the north-east before performing a left turn through approximately 180 degrees. The paraglider suddenly lost altitude as it continued to turn and the Pilot collided with terrain not far from the take-off point. The Pilot was seriously injured and was airlifted to hospital.
